WMB® BEARINGS: DESIGNED FOR SLOW-SPEED, HIGH-LOAD APPLICATIONS
Bowman’s WMB® Bearings, crafted from high-quality CuSn8 rolled phosphor bronze alloy, are designed for slow-speed, high-load applications. Ideal for industries like construction, mining, agriculture, and automotive, these bearings provide excellent resistance to saltwater and corrosion cracking. With the ability to handle both axial and radial loads, WMB® Bearings offer a cost-effective alternative to machined, roller, or ball bearings while ensuring long-term lubrication and reliable performance in demanding environments.
The Key Strengths of the WMB® Bearings

Heavy-Duty Strength
Engineered with robust materials to withstand extreme loads and harsh conditions.

Dual Load Handling
Designed to manage both radial and axial loads for versatile performance.

Self-Lubricating Design
Integrated lubrication system ensures smooth operation without frequent re-lubrication.

Light on Maintenance
Built for durability, reducing servicing needs and maximizing uptime.

Endless Efficiency
Delivers consistent performance with minimal friction and energy loss.

Industry-Proven Reliability
Tested and trusted across industries for stable, long-term operation.
Structure
The WMB ranges are made entirely of CuSn8. The working surface is rolled with diamond indentations or stamped with oil grooves. On assembly or during operation the indentations can be filled with grease or oil which acts as a reservoir creating excellent long term lubrication.
The bronze bearings are produced from phosphor bronze alloy rolled strip which is hard and has an excellent finish. The material composition is as follows:
Cu – Balance
Sn – 8.5%
P – 0.2%
The WMB range is another extremely versatile range. Please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss your specific project requirements. The bronze bearings can be offered with pockets, grooves or thru-holes for heavier applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
If the answer to your question is not listed below, please feel free to give us a call directly on +44 (0)1235 462500 or email us on sales@bowman.co.uk.
Do WMB® Bearings require regular maintenance?
They are designed for minimal maintenance, as the oil pockets or grooves retain lubrication, reducing the need for frequent reapplication.
Are these bearings suitable for dry running applications?
While WMB® Bearings can function with minimal lubrication, they perform best with oil or grease to extend lifespan and reduce friction.
What load capacities can WMB® Bearings handle?
They are designed for high-load applications, particularly in industries where slow-speed, heavy-duty operations are required.
Are there different sizes and configurations available?
Yes, Bowman provides a range of standard sizes, and custom options with different pocket, groove, or thru-hole designs for specialized needs.
